Elegant and in vogue are the products of HIMBUNKAR. These handicrafts
are an expression of the creativity that translates the dreams
of people into precious works of art, be it the hand-woven textiles
of Kullu and Kinnaur, the hand woven and hand knotted Tibetan
carpets or the hand knitted footwear of Lahaul. Our main products
range from shawls of Himachal Pradesh to woollen carpets, tweeds,
blankets, traditional dresses and handicrafts of the state.

It is a light woollen fabric measuring 1 X 2 m. It is usually
draped around and over the shoulders and chest. There are three
main varieties of shawls: Kinnauri Shawl, Kullu Shawl and the
Extra Weft Woven Shawl.

Hand
woven and hand knotted woollen carpets from HIMBUNKAR. These carpets
have traditional designs like dragon, snow lion, lotus, etc. on
them.

Worsted fabric generally woven in stripes or checks and used for
coats, jackets and trousers is called tweed. In order to give
it an anti-shrink finish it is milled after weaving. Blankets
called dohrus in local language are generally draped as a sarong
but at some places is used in place of quilts. Men wear shawls
known as chadder that is bigger in size as compared to women shawl.

Since
centuries people of Himachal Pradesh have known to weave Pattudraped
by the women as sarong and secured with pins called 'bumni', lengchaa
stole draped around the shoulders, grass shoes, knitted products,
embroidered Chamba Rumal, woollen scarves and ladies suits.

Some
of the most ancient crafts of Himachal Pradesh are metal crafts
on copper & silver, woodcraft, driftwood, embroidered leather
sandals, jute craft, jewellery and ornaments. Pottery and soft
toys are also made available by the HIMBUNKAR.
